A consistent visual identity supports a strong brand for Oregon State University by creating a unified look in all communications. It’s important for visuals to immediately identify communications as coming from Oregon State.

All academic, research, outreach, student services and administrative units of Oregon State University that are funded through or by the university, and are not legally autonomous, must follow the visual identity guidelines for all external and internal communications. Outside agencies that create print or electronic materials for any Oregon State units must also follow the guidelines. All new freelance designers are asked to contact University Marketing at university.marketing@oregonstate.edu to discuss the OSU visual brand guidelines and ensure consistent university branding.

Correct and consistent use of the following visual identity elements strengthens our overall identity and lets our audiences recognize that we are all an integral part of Oregon State University.

  • Hierarchy: The college, department or unit name should appear at the top of the page. The Tag is always located in the bottom-right corner, unless there are special circumstances where the Hang Tag would be used. A companion logo can be placed on the back cover, next to contact information.
  • Photography: Photographs help tell the university’s stories, showing what Beaver Nation is doing to positively impact our state, the country and the world.
  • Color Palette: The colors represent Oregon State’s personality and reinforces the brand.
  • Fonts: The chosen fonts are unique, contemporary and reflect the confident, authentic personality of the university.
