Brothers David and Peter Truitt founded the Salem cannery in the 1970s and have expanded to lead the nation in the shelf-stable foods industry. Truitt Brothers acts as a co-pack facility for many Oregon growers and manufacturers. Its canned green beans are grown from the Blue Lake bush bean seed that was developed through Oregon State’s vegetable breeding program. The Blue Lake bush bean has become an industry standard, making Oregon the second-largest green bean producer in the country.
