This category focuses on what’s needed to get the work done. The idea is to capture all of the things our students and researchers and faculty members need when they’re OUT THERE. It might be a boat. It might be a beaker. It might be something that we, as communicators, have never even heard of.

The equipment can be shown in use, with a person or on its own. A good rule of thumb is to capture both scenarios. Showing a person using or interacting with the equipment can add context to what it does and its role in the research. Showing these items in isolation, however, can highlight their inherent beauty and help tell a richer story.

Note: Ensure that the people in your photographs are adhering to any and all safety requirements in their given surroundings (such as safety goggles in lab spaces, hard hats in forest areas and the like).
