Fires in the West:

How to build fire adaptive communities for the future

Nov. 9, 2020
Speaker: Erica Fischer, Ph.D., PE
Assistant Professor
School of Civil and Construction Engineering
Oregon State University

The 2020 fire season has brought devastation to Oregon’s central Cascade range. As communities recover and other communities look to mitigate for wildfire hazards, there are many elements that can be considered, particularly as our climate grows hotter and dryer. Fischer will discuss the wildland urban interface and choices that can be made to reduce damage to infrastructure in the future.

Reminders and a link to the event will be sent via email.

Held on the second Monday of the month, Science Pub is sponsored by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, the Downtown Corvallis Association, OSU-Cascades and Oregon State University.
