2021 Food Drive: February 1 to 26
The Food Drive at Oregon State University has a long tradition of success. Every year during the month of February the University comes together and plans a wide variety of food and fund-raising activities to help the hungry. This effort is in conjunction with the Governor's State Employees Food Drive. The resources gathered by County Extension Offices, Experiment Stations, Cascades Campus, and Centers associated with OSU go to their local food banks. Proceeds from the OSU Corvallis campus benefit the non-profit agencies served in Linn-Benton Food Share. These agencies include local food pantries, the OSU food pantry, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, day care centers, shelter homes, and gleaning groups in Linn and Benton counties.
Oregon Food Bank can leverage funds $1 = 4 pounds of food = over 3 meals
OSU competes against other universities and offices through the Governor's State Employees Food Drive.
Why food and funds both matter
Donating food provides a direct connection between you and the hungry person who receives the food. Your food donation is tangible and reminds you that hungry people are just like you and me.
Cash donations get food to agencies. Cash keeps freezers running and trucks on the road. It also supports innovative programs that address the root causes of hunger through advocacy and public education. Plus food share agencies leverage funds by ordering low cost, hgh quality foods and quantities and prices not available to the average consumer.
