Oregon State alumna and previous faculty member, Marsh Busey Shadbolt, founded Cherry Country in 1991 with her husband Mike. In the beginning working with the OSU Pilot Plant, they perfected drying cherries which later helped launch their signature product - Dried Cherries and Chocolate. Their daughter Celeste joined the family business in 2001 as the general manager. In 2004, they won Oregon State's Austin Family Business "Small Family Business" award. Celeste continues to periodically speak to students in the program encouraging the succession of small family businesses. Their website is www.thecherrycountry.com.
