RainSweet Inc., located in Salem, is a leading supplier of premium quick-frozen fruits and vegetables. RainSweet’s growers cultivate berries in eight Oregon counties, the company processes nearly one-quarter of Oregon’s cane berry crop, and it is the world’s top producer of individually quick frozen small whole onions. The Food Innovation Center has worked with RainSweet to coordinate efforts with growers who sell their cane berry crops to the company. The FIC and RainSweet have also conducted an experiment in export marketing where food producers in Oregon held a video conference with Japanese food buyers in Tokyo who taste tested their products. In 2012, RainSweet exported over $1 million of their products to international customers.
