2022 Food Drive Calendar of Events: February 1 - February 28

  • Complete the Food Drive Event Submission form - This information will be sent to OSU Today on your behalf.
  • Add your event to OSU's Event Calendar if your event is open to the public and is non-food related event. NOTE: Add tag: osufooddrive and your event will also be automatically added to the below Food Drive Events calendar.

Please note that all events where food is served or sold (i.e. bake sales, soup lunches, etc.) are for OSU faculty, employees and students only.

 

2022 EVENTS

OSU/SLS Silent Auction 2022: This is the annual auction co-organized/sponsored by the OSU School of Life Sciences; Biochemistry & Biophysics, Integrative Biology, and Microbiology. Feb. 21 through 24.  All proceeds go directly to Linn-Benton Food Share. The auction features original artworks, gift cards/certificates, gift baskets, plants, activities and sooooo much more! CCVM will be hosting a chili sale Wednesday, February 23rd at Magruder Hall. Chili will be served from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. A bowl of chili is $3 or chili, cornbread and a drink for $5. For questions, contact Sara.k.smith@oregonstate.edu.

Bring two cans of food and receive a free 12 ounce cup of coffee or $1.00 off a specialty beverage on Thursday and Friday (Feb. 24 & 25) at the following locations:  JavaStop, JavaII, E.Cafe, Trader Bing's Cafe, Coffee Corral and The Dam.  Questions contact robyn.jones@oregonstate.edu

College of Forestry Pet Photo Contest:  Vote today for your favorite pets!  Over 84 adorable animals to look at.  Votes are $1 each.  Voting closes Thursday, Feb. 24.  Questions contact madison.dudley@oregonstate.edu

Silent Auction:  Stop by Magruder Hall to bid on some great auction items. The auction starts February 21st and will end on February 25th at noon. Items include homemade bread and cheesecake, jewelry, art, and even a locker of lamb! For questions, contact Sara.k.smith@oregonstate.edu.

The Crop and Soil Science Department will have expertly crafted gift baskets up for auction Feb 23-24 in Crop Science 109.  Lots of different baskets to choose from.  Winners will be contacted end of the day, Feb 24th.  Come on by and bid when you have time!  Happy Food Drive month!  For questions contact emmalie.goodwin@oregonstate.edu.

Buy a cup of chili, give a pound of beans: On February 24, order a cup of chili from East Side Eats, Clubhouse Deli or Southside Station and UHDS will donate a pound of beans in support of the OSU Food Drive.  For info contact lisa.narrow@oregonstate.edu.

School of Public Policy Giving Tree:  Swing by Bexell Hall 300 and pick an apple and/or a leaf from the "giving tree".  The items printed on the apples and leaves are from the Linn Benton Food Share's most wanted foods list.  By taking an apple or a leaf, you promise to bring in the item(s) to Bexell Hall's room 309 before February 28th to be donated.  Contact jen.edwards@oregonstate.edu with any questions.

College of Forestry 5K/10K Virtual Run:  "Race to the Top Banana"  You have the option to receive a t-shirt to commemorate your race! Your entry fee of $25 will go to the Linn Benton Food Share to help feed those in need in our community.   Complete your registration and email Jenna.Baker@oregonstate.edu with any questions.
If you are new to virtual 5K/10K races here is how they work!  
     1. You can choose to run or walk a 5K (3.1 miles) or a 10K (6.2 miles).
     2. Run or walk your race wherever...outdoors on a course of your choice or indoors on your treadmill.
     3. Complete your race between February 1st and February 21st
     4. Submit your time and upload your race selfie or screenshot of your race time
     5. Everyone is a winner just for joining in! 

School of Public Policy Bottle/Can Deposit Drive: We know you have a bag or box of cans cluttering up your garage, or a stack still on your desk.  Instead of lugging them down to bottle drop center, just bring to work and let the School of Public Policy do the dirty work for you.  Each floor of Bexell Hall will have donated Home Depot orange buckets near all the trash bins to receive bottles/cans, or you can leave any large supplies in Bexell Hall 418.  All money from the deposited bottles and cans will be donated to the Linn Benton Food Share.  Special thanks goes to the Corvallis Home Depot for donating all of the orange buckets to better help us with this drive.  Please contact jen.edwards@oregonstate.edu with any questions. 

Live Cooking Demo with Kelly Strait:  Join our live cooking demo with Kelly Streit, Registered Dietician/Senior Instructor, Family & Community Health, Clackamas County on Feb. 28 at noon! Quilt and Art Raffle:  The College of Forestry invites you to visit https://www.forestry.oregonstate.edu/college-forestry-raffle or stop by the Helpdesk located in PFSC 209 to view items and buy tickets. 

Bean Bag Toss and Putting Tournament:  Come to Printing & Mailing's main office on Research Way to compete in two tournaments.  $5 for 8 tosses or putts.  Fantastic prizes will be given away to the top five contestants in each tournament.  For more info contact kelly.clark@oregonstate.edu.

Walking Challenge:  Did you know that the average American only walks 3,000 to 4,000 steps a day? However, the CDC recommends that adults should aim for 10,000 steps per day! Do you know how many steps you're taking a day?   Join the Virtual Steps Challenge and see how many steps you can get in! Vet Med Book SaleCome check out the gently used collection of books for all ages located in Magruder Hall atrium!  The sale includes CDs, DVDs and board games.  Prices range from $1 - $3.  Cash and checks accepted.  All proceeds go to the OSU Food Drive.  For questions contact sara.k.smith@regonstate.edu.  This activity runs through Feb. 28.

Recipes wanted: The OSU Foundation and the OSU Alumni Association are collecting recipes for a cookbook with the theme “Bites & Beverages,” so share recipes befitting the best social hour in 2022. Submit your favorite recipe by Feb. 25 to be included. College of Forestry Pet Photo Contest:  Do you have a pet?  Do you like looking at pets?  Do you appreciate pet costumes and outfits?  Join the FERM Department in supporting the Linn-Benton Food Drive with what we hope to be is a fun virtual event for all pet lovers!  We are hosting a pet contest and are accepting your photo submissions for the following categories:  1. Cutest Creature 2. Super Snoozer (sleeping photos) 3. Best Belp (tongue-out photos) 4. Coolest Costume 5. Best Friends (2 or more pets) You are welcome to submit photos for multiple categories! Please enter your submissions by February 4.  All entries will be uploaded to a webpage for viewing, with a Qualtrics voting system to follow February 14-17.  Note: votes will cost $1 each, but no limit to number of votes - feel free to stuff the ballot!  Contest winners will receive a pet-themed prize following the end of the Food Drive.

Pet Pageant with Amy and Amerie:  Here's a chance to showcase your pet, either live via Zoom or by sharing a picture by Feb. 8 at noon! Beaver Battalion Bake Sale: Help support the OSU Food Drive by partaking in a special treat baked just for you by the NROTC Beaver Battalion. Stop by the SEC Plaza from 11am-1pm on Thursday Feb. 10th, 17th or 24th for a mid-day snack. You can also support the Food Drive by donating through their Facebook page. Vet Med Bake Sale: starting Monday, February 14th! Baked goods at the sale include gluten free brownies, kahlua cake and salted chocolate chip shortbread. It would not be a vet med bake sale without homemade dog bones! Items will be individually wrapped with ingredients lists. The sale will be in the Magruder Hall atrium. Items will cost from $1 to $5. School of Life Sciences Farmers Market: Join us on Monday, Feb. 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Cordley 3029 for houseplants, baked goods, home-canned products, hand crafted items, Valentine stuffed animals and silk flower bouquets for sale.  also houseplant supplies, vases, holiday decorations, knickknacks and more as we downsize for our upcoming move out of Cordley.. Plants, Puns, & Poetry Sale: Join the Academic Success Center & Writing Center on February 16 from 10 am to 2 pm to fall in love with a new plant, pick up a funny pun, or to get a poem typed for you on the spot! Have spare change? You can donate it to OSU’s annual Food Drive to help families in need. Feel free to stop by our coin change fundraiser at the Trysting Tree Lounge inside the MU on Thursday 2/17 and Friday 2/18 from 11am-4pm. This event is put on by Circle K International, a student volunteer organization on campus.
