2024 Food Drive: February 1 to 29

The Food Drive at Oregon State University has a long tradition of success. Every year during the month of February, the university comes together and plans a wide variety of food and fund-raising activities to help the hungry. This effort is in conjunction with the Governor's State Employees Food Drive. The resources gathered by County Extension Offices, Experiment Stations, OSU-Cascades and Centers associated with OSU go to their local food banks. Proceeds from the OSU efforts in Corvallis benefit the non-profit agencies served in Linn-Benton Food Share. These agencies include local food pantries, the OSU food pantry, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, day care centers and shelter homes in Linn and Benton counties.

Why food and funds both matter

Donating food provides a direct connection between you and the hungry person who receives the food. Your food donation is tangible and reminds you that hungry people are just like you and me.

Cash donations get food to agencies. Food share agencies leverage funds by ordering low cost, high quality foods at quantities and prices not available to the average consumer. Cash supports innovative programs that address the root causes of hunger through advocacy and public education. It also keeps freezers running and trucks on the road.

In 2023, OSU faculty, staff and students contributed 458,813 meals to the Linn Benton Food Share!

Who we help

The annual OSU Food Drive primarily raises donations for the Linn Benton Food Share. OSU entities located in regions outside of Linn and Benton counties are encouraged to keep their donations local and simply report what they raise back to the Food Drive chair.

Coordinator resources

Every year departments, extension offices, student groups and clubs across campus participate in the Food Drive. Every effort counts, both big and small, so have fun and know that your efforts are helping to feed hungry children and their families in our community.

To thank and acknowledge your efforts, the top three fundraising departments, in the five different categories, are recognized. Categories are determined by the number of employees in each department.

Wondering if your department already has a coordinator? Check the list below. If your department does not have a coordinator, you are welcome to volunteer - the job is easy, fun and very rewarding! Contact OSU's Food Drive Coordinator Teri Braun. She can help get you set up to hit the ground running!
